Książ Castle —
The Giant of Silesia
Poland's third-largest castle, a Nazi tunnel mystery, and the world's finest horse stud farm — all in one unreasonably photogenic day.
Four stops, no rush.
The Castle Itself
Thirteenth-century bones, Baroque face, Hochberg-family drama. We wander the state rooms, the terraces, and the courtyard where Goethe once complained about the view.
The Nazi Tunnels
Beneath the castle: an unfinished Nazi underground complex (Project Riese) that still puzzles historians. Damp, cavernous, genuinely unsettling. Highly recommended.
The Stud Farm
One of Europe's oldest Arabian horse breeding programs, just downhill. You'll meet creatures genuinely older and more aristocratic than most castles.
Palm House & Gardens
Daisy Hochberg's eccentric botanical project: tropical plants flown to Silesia in the 1910s. Still alive. Still inexplicable. Perfect lunch spot.
Everything except
your lunch.
(We'll stop at a place with actual food made by actual humans. You'll pay, you'll thank me.)
Itinerary.
One price.
Per group.
700 PLN covers one private van, one guide, all entry tickets, and a full day. Whether you're two honeymooners or a party of seven, it's the same number.
Vasily knows every stone by name. Also the horses. Also the bar owner. Genuinely unmatched day.
We came for the castle, stayed for the Nazi tunnels, left with three new podcast recommendations.
My kids didn't complain once. My kids always complain. This is a miracle castle.
